Gran Sol is a striking 31-story residential tower located directly on Alicante's seafront, at the junction of Avenida de la Estación and the Explanada de España. Completed in 1962, it was one of the tallest buildings in Spain at the time and remains a prominent landmark. The building's white façade and slender profile contrast with the blue Mediterranean, making it a favorite subject for photographers. While it is a private apartment building, its ground floor houses commercial spaces including cafes and shops. Visitors can admire the tower from the nearby Explanada de España, a palm-lined promenade, or from the Postiguet Beach. The building's height offers panoramic views of the city and coastline, though access to upper floors is restricted to residents.

Don't miss

  • View the tower from Explanada de España for classic photo ops
  • Visit the ground-floor cafes for a coffee with a view
  • Walk along Postiguet Beach with the tower as backdrop
  • Observe the building's modernist architecture and curved balconies
  • See it illuminated at night when lights outline the structure
