Hwaseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage site that surrounds the historic city of Suwon. Built in the late 18th century under King Jeongjo, the fortress features a 5.7-kilometer stone wall punctuated by impressive gates, command posts, and observation towers. Visitors can walk along the wall for panoramic views of the city and explore the Hwaseong Haenggung palace within. The site offers a vivid glimpse into Joseon-era military architecture and urban planning, with many original structures restored or preserved.
