Sadly, the food didn't live to expectations. The confit lamb was like it had not been properly reheated - hot on the outside, cold and firm on the inside. The only nice thing about the pumpkin pie was the caramelized peaches and ice cream (best). Loved the ambience, punctuated by beautiful music. Hoping to try them again to see if this was just an off night.
The place has a great breakfast and tapas menu, I wasn't impressed with their coffee although they have good quality coffee beans from Beanthere which is a + Had a egg Benedict and a salmon bagel which were a killer, great minimalist design, sat on the side walk table and enjoyed the great Sunday atmosphere. Highly recommend for breakfast!!!
I recommend sharing the dishes as the portions are small that way you get to sample the entire menu. The mushrooms were particularly excellent. Very good service and friendly staff and great value for money
We went as a party of 4 adults and 2 kids to this restaurant. The place was warm and bustling and had a nice vibe. A look at the menu promised a good range of food that would suit everyone at the table. The menu states that the food is served on small plates designed to be shared. This is where the good vibes evaporated. Although the food tasted good, the plates were very small and the helpings were even smaller. I ordered lamb shoulder which, when it came, was lukewarm and a really small helping. If I was to share with another person, we would literally have had just 3 mouthfuls each. For R135.00 I found that was too far a stretch. The mussels were also tasty, but with just 6 mussels in the bowl, again, not much to share. And so it went. Tiny helpings that were really not sufficient to achieve the great sharing experience touted on the menu. The service was quite mediocre and when we asked for more bread (really a pita type flat bread) for the table we were told that they had run out but were preparing more. We did not get any more. I ordered coffee as a dessert and was still waiting while everyone else was finishing up. I had to call and remind the staff of the order.I was really quite disappointed with the experience and, while the food was tasty, I found the whole experience disappointing and certainly not value for money under any circumstances. I would not go back.
