The Knysna–Amatole montane forests are a rare ecoregion of ancient, temperate rainforests that stretch along the southern Cape. These forests are home to giant yellowwood and stinkwood trees, as well as the elusive Knysna elephant and various bird species. Visitors can hike trails through dense, mossy undergrowth, listen to the calls of forest birds, and experience one of South Africa's last remaining indigenous forests. The area is a haven for nature lovers and hikers.
