Kukum Field was originally a Japanese-built airstrip during World War II, later used by Allied forces. Today, it serves as a local sports field and community gathering place in Honiara. The flat, open area is used for soccer and rugby matches, and visitors can see remnants of its wartime past, including concrete foundations. It's a living piece of history where the past meets present-day community life, offering a unique glimpse into the island's layered heritage.
