Perched at 1,674 meters on the slopes of Stol (1,673 m), Prešeren Lodge is one of Slovenia's oldest mountain huts, built in 1906 and named for the poet France Prešeren. It serves as a welcoming base for hikers ascending Stol from the Karawanks side, providing simple accommodation, hearty meals, and a terrace with breathtaking views over the Sava Valley and the Julian Alps. The hut's rustic charm and literary connection make it a unique stop. Visitors can stay overnight or just enjoy a drink while soaking in the alpine atmosphere before continuing their hike.
Don't miss
- Enjoy a meal on the sun terrace with panoramic views of the Julian Alps
- Stay overnight in the historic dormitory for an authentic mountain experience
- Sign the guestbook and see photos of the hut's early 20th-century history
