St. George's Parish Church dominates the skyline of Piran, perched on a hill above the town. This Baroque-style church, dedicated to the patron saint of Piran, was built on the site of an earlier 12th-century church. Its most striking feature is the free-standing bell tower, modeled after the Campanile of St. Mark's in Venice. Visitors can climb the bell tower for breathtaking 360-degree views of the town's terracotta rooftops, the Gulf of Trieste, and the distant Alps on clear days. The church interior houses a marble altar and paintings by local artists.
