The Walls of Piran are a well-preserved medieval fortification system that once protected the town from invaders. Today, visitors can walk along the remaining sections, which climb the hillside and offer sweeping views of the terracotta rooftops, the bell tower of St. George's Church, and the sparkling Gulf of Trieste. The walls date from the 7th to 16th centuries, with the most prominent parts being the town walls on the hill. It's a peaceful, scenic route that connects the old town with the surrounding landscape, perfect for photography and history enthusiasts.

Don't miss

  • Walk the restored section near the top of the hill for the best panoramic photo opportunities.
  • Spot the remnants of medieval gates and towers integrated into the town's fabric.
  • Combine the walk with a visit to the nearby St. George's Cathedral complex.
