Nový zámok (New Castle) is a Renaissance fortress built in the 16th century on a hill overlooking Banská Štiavnica. Originally part of the town’s fortifications against Ottoman attacks, it now houses a museum dedicated to anti-Habsburg uprisings and the local mining industry. Visitors can explore exhibits of weapons, mining tools, and historical documents, and climb the tower for a 360-degree view of the town and surrounding countryside. The castle’s strategic location and well-preserved architecture make it a fascinating site for history buffs and photographers alike.
