Baab-al-Salaam, or the Gate of Peace, is a principal entrance to the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. Located on the northern side, it is one of the oldest and most ornate gates, featuring intricate Islamic calligraphy and design. Pilgrims often enter through this gate to perform tawaf (circumambulation) around the Kaaba, as it leads directly to the mataf (circumambulation area). The gate holds spiritual significance as a symbol of entering a state of peace and devotion. Its name reflects the greeting of peace exchanged among worshippers.
