Pico de São Tomé, rising to 2,024 meters, is the highest point on the island and a premier destination for adventurous hikers. The trek to the summit winds through lush rainforest, past coffee and cocoa plantations, and up steep volcanic slopes. The reward at the top is a breathtaking 360-degree view of the island, the ocean, and on clear days, the neighboring island of Príncipe. The hike typically takes a full day and requires good physical fitness, but the experience of standing atop this ancient volcano is unforgettable.
