Rubavu District is the administrative division that encompasses the town of Gisenyi and its surrounding areas in western Rwanda. It borders Lake Kivu to the west and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the north. The district is known for its beautiful lakeside beaches, such as those near Gisenyi, and the busy border crossing at Petite Barrière. Inland, the landscape rises into terraced hills dotted with villages and coffee plantations. Visitors can enjoy water sports, relax on volcanic sand beaches, or explore the vibrant local markets and cultural sites.
