Mamayev Kurgan is a strategic hill that saw brutal fighting during the Battle of Stalingrad. Today it is a vast memorial complex featuring the Motherland Calls statue, the Hall of Military Glory, and the Square of Sorrow. Visitors walk up a grand staircase lined with sculptural groups depicting the battle's key moments. The hill offers panoramic views of Volgograd. The Eternal Flame burns in the Hall of Military Glory, where names of fallen soldiers are inscribed on the walls.
