The Cathedral of Saint Demetrius is a gem of pre-Mongol Russian architecture, renowned for its exterior walls covered in elaborate white stone reliefs. Built in the 1190s for Prince Vsevolod the Big Nest, it features over 500 carved figures depicting biblical scenes, mythical creatures, and floral motifs. Inside, fragments of 12th-century frescoes remain, including a rare depiction of the Last Judgment. This compact but richly adorned cathedral offers a glimpse into medieval craftsmanship.
