Khutyn Monastery, founded in the 12th century, is located about 10 kilometers north of Veliky Novgorod on the banks of the Volkhov River. The main attraction is the Transfiguration Cathedral, built in 1515, which features a striking white-stone exterior and a single dome. Inside, visitors can see fragments of 16th-century frescoes and the tomb of Saint Varlaam, the monastery's founder. The peaceful grounds, with views of the river, provide a tranquil escape from the city.
