The Katholikon of the Antoniev Monastery is the main cathedral of the Antoniev Monastery complex in Veliky Novgorod, built in the early 12th century. It is one of the oldest surviving stone churches in Russia, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin. The cathedral features distinctive Novgorodian architecture with three domes and a simple, robust exterior. Inside, visitors can see fragments of original 12th-century frescoes, including depictions of saints and biblical scenes. The monastery itself, founded by St. Anthony the Roman, adds historical depth to the visit, with its tranquil grounds and other monastic buildings.
