Yuriev Monastery, founded in 1030 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise, is a historic religious complex on the outskirts of Veliky Novgorod. Its centerpiece is the St. George's Cathedral, built in 1119, which showcases early Russian architecture and houses fragments of 12th-century frescoes.
