GUM (Glavny Universalny Magazin) is a historic department store that occupies an entire block along Red Square. Its iconic facade and soaring glass-roofed arcade, lined with three levels of shops, make it a shopping destination and architectural landmark. Built in the Russian Revival style in the 1890s, the interior features ornate bridges, fountains, and vintage decor. Today, GUM houses high-end boutiques, cafes, and a famous food hall. Even without shopping, visitors come to admire the grand atrium, ride the historic escalators, and soak in the atmosphere of a bygone era. It remains a symbol of Russian retail history and a vibrant part of Moscow's public life.

Don't miss

  • Gaze up at the arched glass roof spanning the entire three-story arcade.
  • Browse the Gastronom No. 1 food hall for Russian delicacies and souvenirs.
  • Ride the vintage escalators and explore the historic bridges connecting the galleries.
