I was on the lookout for a nearby place suitable for a quick lunch takeaway and I'm delighted to have discovered Șelale Cantină Bufet. It's fast, delicious, incredibly welcoming, and allows you to pick and choose from their offerings for your plate. I tend to end up with more food than I can handle every time!
very tasty and at a good price. a must-visit bar. food is to take away. large portions
They closed this location but they opened another one very close to this one, it s on Strada Apolodor face to face with hanul berarilor, the best food no cap.
We have been staying in Bucharest for over a month (in a self catering apartment). Our place is located next to the river and the old town. Located at the base of our apartment block is this amazing Turkish eatery that we have visited too many times to count. It is possible to eat in or takeaway. There is a pleasant eating area separated from the food service area - lovely open windows, fresh air and a mural photo of a waterfall (Selale is Turkish for waterfall). There are your usual kebab options which are served from a separate window, however, what sets this place apart from the rest is their extensive variety of rich, flavoursome casseroles and stews (wet dish options with several varieties each of beef, lamb and chicken) as well moussaka and grills just to name a few. They also have an extensive vegetarian section with proper vegetarian casseroles alongside ‘side’ dish options such as - bulghur wheat, rice, Israeli cous cous, mash and polenta. We’ve purchased around 20 different meals so far and not been disappointed once. Price for a hot meal and side dish is 11 lei - less than 3 euro. They also have various soups/ciorbas and super yummy fresh Turkish breads/pita pocket style. The staff are friendly and helpful and work well under pressure - they open at around 10 am - we usually nip down about 10.30 am or so and stock up multiple meals to save us cooking for a few days. Go at lunchtime at your peril - there could easily be a dozen people in the queue - it is very, very popular.
