Poarta (Turcu) is a natural mountain pass or saddle located in the Bucegi Mountains, close to the Turcu peak. It serves as a key junction for hiking trails connecting Bran, Moieciu, and the higher Bucegi plateau. The area features a mix of forested slopes and open meadows, with wildflowers in spring and summer. Hikers pass through the pass to access longer treks or enjoy a shorter loop with views of the Turcu summit. Distinctive for its role as a gateway between valleys, Poarta offers a peaceful setting away from crowded trails. The pass is also a good spot for birdwatching, with sightings of golden eagles and hawks.

Don't miss

  • Walk the trail from Poarta to the Turcu peak for a combined hike with varied scenery.
  • Picnic in the meadow at the pass, surrounded by wildflowers and mountain views.
  • Look for red deer and wild boar tracks in the forest sections of the trail.
