Apulum (castra) was the military fortress of Legio XIII Gemina, the Roman legion that guarded the province of Dacia. Built in the 2nd century AD, the castra featured stone walls, defensive towers, and a headquarters building (principia). Today, visitors can see the excavated foundations of the fortress walls, gates, and internal structures. The site includes a reconstructed section of the wall and a model showing the original layout. It offers a tangible connection to the daily life of Roman soldiers stationed on the empire's frontier.
