The Walls of Old San Juan are a series of formidable stone ramparts built by the Spanish from the 16th to 18th centuries to protect the city from naval attacks. Stretching about 3 miles around the old city, they are among the best-preserved fortifications in the Caribbean. Today, the walls offer a popular walking path with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and San Juan Bay. Visitors can stroll along the top, pass through historic gates like the Puerta de San Juan, and see cannons still in place. The walls connect to the forts El Morro and San Cristóbal, making for an immersive historical experience.
