The Museo de Arte de Ponce is a landmark institution in the Caribbean, founded in 1959 by Luis A. Ferré. Its neoclassical building houses over 4,500 works, including pre-Raphaelite paintings, Baroque masterpieces, and a strong collection of Puerto Rican art. Visitors can see pieces by European artists like Edward Burne-Jones and Francisco de Zurbarán, as well as local artists. The museum is distinctive for its focus on European art in the Caribbean and its striking architecture, including a central rotunda.
