The Óbidos Aqueduct is a striking 16th-century structure that stretches across the valley just outside the town walls. Built to bring fresh water from the Usseira spring, it features 14 graceful arches that still stand in excellent condition. Today, the aqueduct serves as a pleasant walking path, offering a different perspective of the village and surrounding landscape. It's a quiet spot away from the main tourist bustle, where you can appreciate the engineering of the past while enjoying a peaceful stroll.
Don't miss
- Walk along the top of the aqueduct for unique views of Óbidos and the countryside
- Count the 14 arches and admire the Renaissance-style construction
- Photograph the aqueduct at sunset when the stone glows golden
