The Gaia Cable Car offers a scenic aerial journey across the Douro River, linking the Cais de Gaia district with the historic Monastery of Serra do Pilar. The ride takes about five minutes each way, providing stunning views of Porto's Ribeira district, the Dom Luís I Bridge, and the river below. The cable cars are fully enclosed with glass walls, allowing unobstructed photography. At the upper station, visitors can explore the monastery's clifftop grounds and enjoy a panoramic viewpoint. The lower station is conveniently located near many port wine lodges, making it easy to combine with a lodge tour.
