Pegões Aqueduct is an impressive engineering feat from the 1500s, constructed to supply water to the Convent of Christ. Its most dramatic section spans the Vale dos Pegões with two tiers of arches rising up to 30 meters high. Visitors can walk along the aqueduct's path and view the surrounding countryside. The structure blends Renaissance and Manueline styles, with decorative elements like armillary spheres on some pillars.

Don't miss

  • Walk along the aqueduct's top path for panoramic views of the valley.
  • Photograph the double-tiered arches near the Convent of Christ.
  • Spot the Manueline armillary spheres carved into some pillars.
