Tavira Island is a long, narrow barrier island off the coast of Tavira, known for its unspoiled sandy beaches and protected dunes. Accessible by a five-minute ferry from the town, the island offers a peaceful escape with calm, clear waters ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The eastern end is a designated naturist area, while the western side has a few beach bars and restaurants. Visitors can walk for miles along the shore or relax in the soft sand.

Don't miss

  • Swim in the calm, clean waters of the main beach (Praia da Ilha de Tavira).
  • Walk the wooden boardwalk through the dunes to reach quieter stretches of sand.
  • Enjoy fresh seafood at one of the island's beachfront restaurants.
