The Fortress of Cacela is a 17th-century hilltop fort overlooking the Ria Formosa Natural Park and the Atlantic. Originally built to protect the coastline, it now offers visitors a peaceful spot to absorb the vast landscape of sandbars, marshes, and ocean. The fortress itself is partly ruined, but its elevated position provides one of the best viewpoints in the eastern Algarve. Nearby, the village of Cacela Velha adds charm.
