The Clérigos Tower and Church is one of Porto's most recognizable landmarks. Designed by Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni in the 18th century, the church is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture with a dramatic façade and ornate interior. The tower, which rises 75 meters (246 feet) above the city, is a symbol of Porto. Visitors climb 225 steps to the top for a breathtaking panoramic view of the historic center, the Douro River, and the Atlantic Ocean. The church itself features a richly decorated nave with gilded altars and a striking altarpiece. The complex also includes a museum that tells the story of the tower's construction and the history of the Brotherhood of the Clergy.
