Praia da Rocha, meaning 'Rocky Beach,' is Portimão's most famous stretch of golden sand, extending for over a kilometer beneath dramatic ochre cliffs. The beach is a hub of activity, with a lively promenade lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. Visitors can swim in the calm Atlantic waters, try jet skiing or parasailing, or simply relax on the sand. The cliffs, sculpted by wind and sea, create a stunning backdrop and offer viewpoints for memorable photos. At sunset, the beach takes on a magical glow, making it a favorite spot for evening strolls.

Don't miss

  • Walk the full length of the beach to admire the cliff formations and spot the Fort of Santa Catarina in the distance.
  • Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard to explore the coastline from the water.
  • Enjoy a meal or drink at one of the seafront restaurants while watching the sunset.
