Parque Eduardo VII is Lisbon's grand central park, a formal, sloping green expanse of geometric box hedges climbing a hill above the Marquês de Pombal roundabout, aligned to give a sweeping view down the manicured lawns, over the city, and to the Tagus River beyond. At the top, a viewpoint (miradouro) offers one of the best free panoramas in Lisbon, looking straight down the park's axis to the river. The park also holds the Estufa Fria, a wonderful series of greenhouses (cold, hot, and sweet houses) filled with lush, exotic plants, a tranquil hidden gem.
Named after the visiting British king Edward VII, it's a pleasant place to stroll, enjoy the view, and escape the city bustle. It anchors the top of the Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's grand boulevard, and is easy to combine with a walk down toward the centre.
