The Amoreira Aqueduct is an impressive example of 17th-century hydraulic engineering, built to supply water to Elvas during sieges. It features a double row of arches in some sections, reaching heights of up to 30 meters. The aqueduct is part of the UNESCO-listed fortifications, as it was essential for the town's defense. Visitors can walk along its base or view it from the castle walls, marveling at the precision of the stonework and the sheer scale of the structure.
