Established in 1892, this vast necropolis covers over 40 hectares and contains more than 160,000 graves. The cemetery is a hauntingly beautiful landscape of elaborate tombstones, from simple matzevot to grand mausoleums of wealthy industrialists. The most striking section is the 'Ghetto Field', where thousands of victims from the Łódź Ghetto are buried in mass graves. A visit offers a profound glimpse into the city's once-thriving Jewish community and its tragic end.

Don't miss

  • The monumental mausoleum of industrialist Izrael Poznański, resembling a small palace
  • The Holocaust memorial and mass graves in the 'Ghetto Field'
  • The ornate tombstones of rabbis and community leaders in the old section
