Moray is a unique Inca ruin consisting of several massive, circular terraces that descend into a bowl-shaped depression, like a giant amphitheater. The terraces create distinct microclimates, with temperature differences of up to 15°C between the top and bottom, leading archaeologists to believe the Incas used the site for agricultural experimentation. Visitors can walk around the rim of the main terrace and peer down into the concentric rings, marveling at the precision of Inca stonework. The site's remote location and sweeping views of the Sacred Valley add to its mystique.

Don't miss

  • Stand at the top of the main circular terrace and observe the dramatic temperature gradient.
  • Walk the perimeter path for panoramic views of the Sacred Valley.
  • Notice the sophisticated irrigation system that channels water through the terraces.
