Ancachita is a pre-Columbian archaeological site near Chivay, where ancient cultures buried their dead in tombs carved into the steep canyon walls. Visitors can hike to the site and observe petroglyphs depicting llamas, geometric patterns, and human figures, offering a glimpse into the spiritual and daily life of the Colca Valley's early inhabitants. The stark, arid landscape and the silent tombs create a contemplative atmosphere, distinct from the region's more famous terraces and hot springs.
