Simpson Harbour is a deep, natural harbor encircled by the volcanic peaks of Tavurvur, Vulcan, and others, making it one of the most dramatic seascapes in Papua New Guinea. Visitors can take boat tours to explore the harbor's calm waters, view submerged wrecks from World War II, and see the remnants of Rabaul's old town buried by ash. The harbor is also a hub for local fishing and trade, with colorful boats and waterfront markets adding to its vibrant atmosphere.
