The Atlantic Bridge is a striking cable-stayed structure completed in 2019, spanning the Atlantic entrance of the Panama Canal near Colón. It was built to relieve traffic on the nearby Gatún Locks crossing and to accommodate the canal's expansion. Visitors can drive or walk across the bridge, taking in sweeping views of the canal, cargo ships passing below, and the lush tropical landscape. The bridge's twin towers and fan-shaped cable arrangement make it a modern landmark, especially photogenic at sunset when the cables catch the golden light.

Don't miss

  • Walk or cycle across the bridge for unobstructed views of canal traffic.
  • Photograph the bridge's twin towers and cable stays from the Colón side.
  • Watch massive container ships and tankers transit the canal beneath you.
