Al-Maghtas, meaning 'baptism' or 'immersion' in Arabic, is the Jordanian side of the baptismal site of Jesus, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This archaeological and religious complex includes the remains of ancient baptismal pools, churches, and a monastery dating back to the Byzantine period. Visitors can walk along the riverbank and see the excavated ruins, while pilgrims often participate in baptismal ceremonies in the river. The site offers a serene, contemplative atmosphere with stunning views of the Jordan Valley.
