The Chinese Cemetery in Danyor, a short drive from Gilgit, is a solemn reminder of the human cost behind the Karakoram Highway. Rows of simple graves with Chinese inscriptions mark the final resting place of hundreds of Chinese laborers and engineers who perished during the highway's construction in the 1960s–70s. The site is well-maintained, with a small memorial and flagpole. Visitors come to pay respects and reflect on the monumental effort that connected Pakistan and China through some of the world's toughest terrain.
