The Folgefonna Tunnel is an 11.4-kilometer road tunnel that passes beneath the Folgefonna glacier, connecting the villages of Odda and Mauranger. Opened in 2001, it offers a surreal driving experience through solid rock under the ice, with illuminated caverns and a distinctive blue light at the midpoint. Visitors can stop at designated pull-offs to admire the engineered walls and imagine the immense ice mass above. It's a practical route but also a tourist attraction in its own right, showcasing Norway's innovative infrastructure.
