Giske Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected coastal reserve on the island of Giske, established to safeguard the rich birdlife and marine mammals. The sanctuary encompasses rocky shores, islets, and shallow waters that attract thousands of seabirds such as eiders, gulls, and terns, as well as harbor seals basking on the rocks. Visitors can observe wildlife from designated paths and viewpoints, especially during the breeding season in spring and early summer. The area offers a raw, natural experience with panoramic views of the Norwegian Sea.

Don't miss

  • Spot harbor seals lounging on the skerries during low tide.
  • Observe nesting seabirds like eiders and Arctic terns in spring.
  • Walk along the coastal trail for sweeping ocean views.
