The Millennium Cross is a massive steel structure standing 66 meters high on Vodno Mountain, overlooking Skopje. Built to commemorate 2,000 years of Christianity, it is one of the largest crosses in the world. Visitors can take a cable car from the base of the mountain to the cross, where an observation deck provides breathtaking 360-degree views of the city, the Vardar River, and the distant mountains. The site is especially popular at sunset when the cross is illuminated against the darkening sky.
Don't miss
- Ride the cable car up Vodno Mountain for scenic views of the city and valley
- Stand at the base of the cross and take in the panoramic vista from the observation deck
- Visit at sunset for spectacular photo opportunities as the cross lights up
