Maderas, the quieter sibling of Concepción, is a dormant volcano on Ometepe's southern end. Its slopes are cloaked in cloud forest, leading to a misty crater lake at the summit. Hikers traverse muddy trails through lush vegetation, encountering howler monkeys, toucans, and orchids. The hike is less steep but often slippery, and the payoff is a serene lagoon surrounded by volcanic peaks, a haven for nature enthusiasts.
