Cerro Quiabuc–Las Brisas Nature Reserve lies just east of Estelí, protecting a swath of dry tropical forest on rugged hills. The reserve is a haven for birders, with species such as the turquoise-browed motmot, white-throated magpie-jay, and various raptors. Trails wind through cactus-dotted slopes and offer views of the surrounding countryside. The area is less visited than Cerro Tisey, providing a quieter nature experience. It’s an excellent spot for a short hike or a morning of birdwatching close to the city.
