Treaty House is a Georgian-style residence set within the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, overlooking the Bay of Islands. Built in 1833 for British Resident James Busby, it was the site of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi on 6 February 1840. Visitors can tour the restored house, which contains original furniture and artifacts, and explore the surrounding grounds, including a carved meeting house and a large waka (war canoe). The museum offers insights into the treaty's history and its ongoing significance in New Zealand society.
