Ben Lomond is a classic Queenstown hike that ascends from the top of the Skyline Gondola to a 1,748-meter summit. The trail climbs steadily through tussock and alpine terrain, offering increasingly expansive views of Lake Wakatipu, The Remarkables, and Cecil Peak. At the top, hikers are rewarded with a 360-degree panorama that stretches from the lake to the distant mountains. It's a challenging but achievable day walk for fit visitors, with the option to descend via the gondola or the same trail.
