The Stone Store stands as New Zealand’s oldest stone building, constructed between 1832 and 1836 from locally quarried stone. Originally a storehouse for the Church Missionary Society, it later served various roles including a library and a kauri gum depot. Today, visitors can explore its museum displays on Māori and missionary history, browse the gift shop for local crafts, and admire the building’s sturdy Georgian architecture. Its location beside the Kerikeri River and near Kemp House makes it a key stop in the historic basin.
