The Peacock Fountain is one of Christchurch Botanic Gardens' most photographed landmarks. Originally installed in 1911, this ornate cast-iron fountain features three tiers of basins adorned with intricate floral and bird motifs, including peacocks. After being dismantled for decades, it was meticulously restored and repainted in its original vivid colors, teal, gold, and terracotta, in the 1990s. Visitors can admire the fountain from all angles as it sprays water into the surrounding pond, often with ducks and swans nearby. Set against the backdrop of the gardens' lush lawns and mature trees, it's a peaceful spot for photos or a rest. The fountain is located near the central Rose Garden and the Canterbury Museum, making it easy to combine with other garden highlights.
