Pompallier House is a restored French Catholic mission building constructed in the 1840s, originally housing a printing press that produced the first Māori-language books. Visitors can tour the rammed-earth and timber building, see the working replica printing press, and learn about the Marist missionaries' work. The house is furnished with period pieces, and the garden features plants used by the missionaries. It offers a unique glimpse into the early Catholic presence in New Zealand and the cultural exchange between French missionaries and Māori.
