Sealy Tarns is a popular alpine lake destination reached via a steep but rewarding 2-3 hour return hike from the White Horse Hill campground. The trail climbs through alpine vegetation to a series of small tarns set in a glacial basin, offering stunning reflections of Aoraki/Mount Cook and the surrounding peaks. It's a quieter alternative to the Hooker Valley Track, providing a more intimate mountain experience with fewer crowds. The tarns themselves are shallow, clear pools that mirror the sky and mountains on calm days, making them a favorite for photographers.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic views of Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Sealy Range from the tarns
  • Mirror-like reflections in the tarns on calm, clear days
  • Alpine wildflowers in summer along the trail
